Rolly Romero Is Still Trying To Bait WBC Champion Devin Haney

Rolly Romero continues to troll Devin Haney

Within the lightweight division, it is well known that Rolando “Rolly” Romero (14-0, 12 KO’s) doesn’t care for WBC World lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (26-0, 15 KO’s). Romero has insulted him on a personal level, claimed that he has little talent and has the most fragile jaw in the division. While it’s unclear if Team Romero has sent over an actual contract to fight, it’s very certain that Rolly has consistently trolled The Dream for some length of time. Over the past few days, the brash Las Vegas fighter has been back on his job.

HANEY VERSUS ROMERO, ANYONE??

Presently, neither fighter has an upcoming assignment on the books. So from that angle, this bout is wide open to be made. Romero, who is ranked #1 (WBA), was last in the ring on July 17 taking on Anthony Yigit. Rolly stopped Yigit in the seventh round of their dustup. In his last showdown, on May 29, Haney took on the well-respected Jorge Linares. Minus a small hiccup toward the end of the tenth round, Haney performed masterfully in that outing.

In recent weeks, it looked as if The Dream was angling for a duel with former world champion Richard Commey. Yet, while nothing is confirmed, industry rumblings are still suggesting that Commey will lock horns with Vasiliy Lomachenko. Provided that Lomachenko versus Commey does not get made, of course Haney would want to square-off with Commey. If that fight does get solidified, then Haney could do a lot worse than the very recognizable and lippy Rolly Romero. Only time will tell how this plays out, but regardless of the outcome, 3kingsboxing will be there to report the news.
