The 31-year-old slick southpaw from Rhode Island is excited to finally have his career going in the right direction. It has been a tough road for the WBO middleweight champion and it appears those troubling times are over.

CAREER OBSTACLES

The former Olympian was primed to start his career winning three fights in a row by technical knockout. This type of start to a career is what normally elevates fighters and for a while, things were going good.

He would capture the vacant WBO junior middleweight title in 2013. One would expect this to have been the high point of his life. Although, it was only the beginning of the most difficult time for the talented southpaw.

Andrade was plagued with inactivity and promotional issues that saw him fight once a year from 2014 until 2016. Moreover, other events caused missed opportunities such as the debacle with a proposed fight against current WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo never materializing.

CAREER FINALLY MOVING

In the summer of 2018, the Rhode Island champion, after ten years, would finally part ways with Star and Banner promotions. Furthermore, he would link up with British Promoter Eddie Hearn and be announced as one of a few American fighters that signed to be featured on the DAZN streaming app.

This is where things definitely turned around for Andrade’s career. Capturing the WBO middleweight title, along with being more active, has seen a rise in popularity for him.

Although the champion still lacks having that one big name on his resume, holding a championship in the hottest division in boxing means a big fight is bound to happen.

The two-divisional champion has pound for pound caliber ability and it’s good that the positive path is finally underway. This news is a sign that Matchroom Boxing is fully behind the champion prior to the upcoming bout against Luke Keeler on January 30.
