Andrade Wants the Best Win, Lose Or Draw!
On January 30 WBO world middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (28-0, 17 KO’s) will make the third defense of his title against Luke Keeler (17-2-1, 5 KO’s).
Yet, there is absolutely no mystery to the fact that Andrade would rather be fighting one of the other belt holding champions. However, for whatever the reasons, Boo Boo has had one doozy of a time landing those desirable match-ups.
WHATS THE BIG DEAL?!
The most frustrating element for the Rhode Island native is not understanding what the major complication is in securing these fights. Of course he realizes that with losses, titles would change hands and records could be marred. However, in his estimation, there is no shame or serious consequence if that happened.
Naturally, he feels as though he would be victorious in any match-up. Nevertheless, even if he was the one to come up short on the night, he can’t see it being some catastrophic event. As a student of the game, Andrade is of the mind state that when the best are truly fighting the best, there can be no actual loser involved as he went into detail with SecondsOut.
“When you think about it and it comes down to it, who cares if you lose against Demetrius Andrade if you’re Canelo, if you’re GGG. You just lost against one of the greatest fighters out there.
“Does your credibility go down, does your fan base disappear, do you not fight no more? Or anyway win, lose or draw, we’re still going to be able to make our career and be that guy!
Who cares if somebody loses or not? It all comes down to manning up, going in there putting it on the line and seeing who is the better man. And whoever, you know does lose. But there is no losing out situation.
“It’s a win-win. If they’re that good, they will move forward and continue and beat everybody else and then you’re clashing again!
“So, I mean it’s a win-win for everybody. I don’t know where this high risk-low reward or this bullshit comes from nowadays. At the end of the day, when you put me in the ring with Golovkin, win, lose or draw with any of them, it’s just one of them fights, you’re fighting an elite guy.
“It’s the Marvin Hagler versus the Sugar Ray Leonard, who cares who loses in the sense of ‘oh my record, my record, my record!’ Nah, two men put their career, put their self on the line to really see who the best is and then we got our answer.”
THE BEST ARE BEST, WITH OR WITHOUT A BELT
Continuing with this line of thought, Boo Boo is firm in his stance that the man makes the belt and not the other way around. This is why he remains very open to battling those fighters who are deemed the most dangerous regardless of their belt holding status.
“I’m not chasing only the people that have a belt, I’m chasing people that is somebody, like you know popular. Derevyanchenko he’s not a champion, but he’s a tough guy.
“Yeah I would take that fight, he’s an elite guy. There’s elite guys out there that would make beautiful fights and also for the sport of boxing to help it out. Win, lose or draw you fought an elite guy.”
Honestly, it’s hard to knock or discrediting the point that Andrade is attempting to make! Nevertheless, granted that he is able to best Keeler as most think he will, it will be interesting to see what specific fighter, if any, that he calls out following his fight on January 31.
Stay tuned because 3kingsboxing will definitely be on hand to report all the latest news and updates.
