Undercard for Demetrius Andrade vs Artur Akavov set

Demetrius Andrade (26–0, 16KOs) will make the first defense of the WBO Middleweight title against Artur Akavov (19-2, 8KOs). The event will be at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden on January 18 with the bout to be aired live on DAZN.

The under-card has finally materialized!

Former 3-time, 3-division world champion Jorge Linares (45-4, 28KOs) will face Pablo Cesar Cano (31-7-1, 21KOs). The match will be a 10-round junior welterweight contest.

Amanda Serrano (35-1-1, 26KOs), one of the best Pound-for-Pound fighters in Women’s Boxing, will attempt to win a world title in a record seventh division as she faces WBC/IBF world Super Flyweight champion Eva Voraberger (31-7-1, 20KOs).

Finally, former WBO Super Lightweight champion Chris Algieri (22-3, 8KOs) continues his comeback from a two-year retirement as he steps into the ring against Danny Gonzalez (17-1-1, 7KOs) in a scheduled ten round Welterweight contest.

Overall, this is a solid, if not, spectacular undercard. While Linares is the most known fighter when it comes to the bouts leading up to the Andrade – Akavov main event, the most intriguing may well be Serrano – Voraberger.

Over the last two years, Serrano has been fluctuating in weight. Steadily fighting at higher weights, she weighed 138¾ for her last fight in September. Now, she is dropping all the way down to 115 pounds to fight Voraberger.

How much will it take out of her dropping so much weight? That’s definitely something to keep an eye on especially when a potential mega clash against Katie Taylor at 135 pounds is on the horizon!
