Amir Khan leaning towards Brook over Crawford

According to numerous British based sources, Amir Khan is leaning towards an all-British clash with Kell Brook over WBO titlist Terrence Crawford

After being offered $5 million to face Crawford, it appeared a Brook fight would have to wait again. However, after watching Brook struggle against Michael Zerafa, he now feels it’s time to settle matters.

While attending an event celebrating his partnership with investment company Berkeley Assets, Khan was asked about a potential bout with Kell Brook. He responded:

“I just think that sometimes that long layoff he [Brook] had can harm your body.

“Plus there’s a lot of people saying that outside the gym, outside of fighting, he [Brook] doesn’t live the professional life.

“We’ve the same promoter in Eddie Hearn, hopefully that fight can happen, probably March or April.”

There have been two main sticking points in negotiations for this fight. First, there’s the 147lb weight limit. Then, there’s the 10lb rehydration clause. If those issues can be sorted out then it looks like the UK rivalry can take place in 2019.

Khan has made it clear that a potential bout with Brook must be at welterweight. In October, 3kingsboxing reported both fighters came to agreement on a re-hydration clause of ten pounds.

Therefore, this fight has already been partly negotiated. There may be hope for a fight that is about seven years overdue!
