Andy Ruiz Scores The Knockout Against Antonio Moran
In his latest tour of duty, Olympic gold medalist and lightweight boxer Andy Cruz (4-0, 2 KOs) snagged his fourth professional win by way of a seventh-round knockout over Antonio “Tono” Moran (30-7-1, 21 KOs). After the victory Cruz mentioned the name of WBC champion Shakur Stevenson.
Overall, they fought at a steady but not overwhelming pace. Cruz utilized his extreme technical ability to sharp shoot and counter-punch his way into a position of dominance over Moran. He enjoyed great success targeting Tono’s body and landed crisp right hands on the head. To his credit, Moran was game and managed to land his own noticeable offensive shots.
Unfortunately for him, despite the good work, in the seventh round, Cruz cracked Tono with a crunching overhand hand right that jellied his legs. While being administered his standing eight count, Tono began stumbling around the ring which forced the halt of the duel. For just his fourth professional fight this was a solid performance by Andy Cruz.
In the post-fight interview, the Cuban hinted at wanting to fight Stevenson.
