Anthony Cacace Stays Champion By Defeating Josh Warrington
Following a fun contest, IBO super featherweight champion Anthony “The Apache Warrior” Cacace (23-1, 8 KO’s) successfully defended his title against Josh “The Leeds Warrior” Warrington (31-4-1, 8 KO’s) by way of unanimous decision.
Despite moving up in weight to make this fight a reality, Warrington did a commendable job of holding his own in the ring. For the better part of it, The Leeds Warrior rushed into punching range behind a high-guard then dug to the body. At times, his tactics worked like a charm.
Yet, once the two fighters warmed into the rhythm of the fight, the bigger, longer Cacace found his punching range and a regular home for several of his thudding shots. The Apache Warrior dug to the body well and had particular success with his uppercuts. To his credit, outside of seemingly getting buzzed in the middle rounds, Warrington absorbed the power shots well.
Unsurprisingly, when the match went to the judges, Cacace beat Warrington the day by unanimous decision to the tune of 118-110 and 117-110 (twice).
