Josh Kelly Wins Majority Decision Over Ishmael Davis
In a rather tedious and uneventful match, middleweight fighter Josh “Pretty Boy” Kelly (16-1-1, 8 KO’s) beat Ishmael “The Black Panther” Davis (13-1, 6 KO’s) by way of majority decision.
Early in the duel, it was evident that Kelly had the considerably faster hands and feet. Unfortunately, rather than use them to display in-and-out action or superior defense, Pretty Boy opted to essentially spend the majority of the fight on his bike. Constantly skipping to the left and right, Kelly would suddenly stop, potshot then start skipping away from the plodding, mud boot pursuit of Davis.
The Black Panther was unable to come up with or enforce any other fight plan. He simply followed Kelly around behind an inconsistent jab, not cutting off the ring and throwing counters that were typically too slow. There was a bit of excitement in the twelfth round when Davis finally caught up with Kelly and buzzed and cut him. Once stung, Kelly got back on his bike to survive the rounds.
When the fight went to the cards, Pretty Boy won by the scores of 114-114, 115-113 and 115-114.
