Guido Vianello Wins By Closing The Eye Of Arslanbek Makhmudov
In a must-win situation, heavyweight Guido “The Gladiator” Vianello (13-2-1, 11KO) picked up a stoppage over Arslanbek “Lion” Makhmudov (19-2, 18KO).
The Gladiator fought well off the front foot, behind an educated jab that couldn’t miss. In addition, he began landing that counter righthand along with an uppercut that stunned Makhmudov.
Feeling desperate, Lion started charging forward, looking to land the right hand. But, Vianello caught him with countershots that had the left eye badly swollen.
Despite both men looking a little sloppy in the middle rounds, Guido took advantage of his opponent’s closed left eye by landing several counter righthands. Things continued to go his way after the referee deducted a point from Makhmudov in the sixth round.
In the seventh round, Vianello hit Makhmudov with everything but the kitchen sink. This prompted the ringside doctor to stop the fight at the beginning of the eighth round.
This win could open some doors for more good fights for Vianello. However, Makhmudov’s stock will continue to plummet after another bad loss.
