Bob Arum Picks Devin Haney to Overcome Tank Davis in a Fight!
After traveling to enemy territory and dethroning former unified lightweight champion “Ferocious” George Kambosos (20-1, 10KOs) on June 5 in Australia, undisputed champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (28-0, 15KOs) is a wanted man with a plethora of options. Haney is already on record stating he’s chasing legacy fights.
Luckily for him, there’s no shortage of opportunities. Prior to his fight with Kambosos, he signed a deal with Top Rank as part of the agreement to face the former Australian champion. In doing so, he put himself on the path of getting the big fights he’s been calling for. Now that The Dream is the undisputed champion, fights with unified 130-pound champion Shakur Stevenson, three-division champion Vasyl Lomachenko, and former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez are all possibilities, as each fighter named is signed with Top Rank.
TANK V THE DREAM?
However, another star in the division has overtaken the aforementioned fighters as a foe that’s starting to gain demand. That fighter is three-division champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 25KOs). The longtime Mayweather-promoted fighter is coming off a sixth-round knockout victory over Rolando Romero on May 28. Now a promotional free agent, Davis himself has the option to take his services wherever he sees fit. With his status now clear, a lot of fans and pundits have started to talk about a potential fight between the two.
Both men have gone back and forth in the past. More recently, Haney accused Davis, among other lightweight fighters, of ducking him. With both available to finally fight with no noteworthy roadblocks, people want to know who wins.
Well, Bob Arum, who promotes Haney, had the following to say on who he’d favor in a potential matchup.
“I would favor Devin, but it’s a fight.”
Short and sweet from the legendary promoter. Both Haney and Davis are extremely talented fighters. We can only hope that they both step into the ring together in the near future.
