Bob Arum and Top Rank/ESPN looking to give everyone a platform
Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum, is sending a clear message to everyone regarding ESPN; their boxing platform is open!
Arum, recently celebrating a birthday of 86 years, offers comfort to those worrying about the closing of HBO. They will offer the opportunity to showcase fighters in place of HBO.
Arum states:
“We are not like other entities […] looking to take away promotional rights from people like Kathy Diva or Yvon Michel.
“We want to just put the platform on so they can put the fights on ESPN to get the best possible fights.”
This has become evident, given the fights that were shown featuring other fighters from different promotional companies.
It’s a sound method that can help boxing reach a much broader audience. Especially considering ESPN’s worldwide sports status.
The sport is on the rise again with very competitive champions and challengers in some of the best divisions in boxing today.
It’s sad to see HBO, which has been the flagship of boxing for decades, close. However, it’s good to see that Top Rank/ESPN is looking to help keep the sport thriving.
