Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia could happen later this year according to Bob Arum!
Recently, unified lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko has kept WBC champion Mikey Garcia’s name consistently in his mouth!
Arguably sitting in the #1 position on most pundits pound-for-pound lists, the Ukrainian phenom has made it clear he wants to be boxing’s next undisputed champion! Leading up to his WBA mandatory bout with Anthony Crolla, he mentioned wanting to take on Garcia numerous times.
Now after his fourth round obliteration of Crolla, he took to the mic in the post-fight interview and name dropped the four-division champion again!
When asked what is next for him, Lomachenko responded:
“I want to fight with Mikey Garcia, but we’ll see. I don’t know!”
Additionally, Top Rank chairman Bob Arum mentioned shortly after that he wants to make the fight next if Garcia does not vacate!
He also mentioned if the champion from Moreno Valley doesn’t return to lightweight, he would get with Eddie Hearn again to make a bout with Luke Campbell for the vacant WBC belt.
Either one of these fights would be great, especially after fans were hit with a mandatory match-up that was quintessential of how there are levels in boxing. However, the fight fans have been wanting to see for years now is the one with Garcia!
