Austin Williams takes big step up against Denis Douglin!

When hard-hitting middleweight prospect Austin “Ammo” Williams (7-0, 6KOs) returns to the ring on March 13, he will do so against the tough and experienced Denis Douglin (22-7, 14KOs). Fighting out of Houston, Texas, Williams has gotten the attention of fight fans and pundits of the sport due to his athleticism and explosive punching power.

However, he will be facing by far the toughest and most experienced guy in his young career. Douglin was born in Brooklyn, New York but fights out of Las Vegas. He has shared the ring with multiple current or former world champions. The list includes Jermell Charlo, Anthony Dirrell, George Groves and David Benavidez. Douglin lost all of those matches by knockout. While he has come up short in his step-up bouts, he has gained a wealth of knowledge that Williams has not acquired just yet.

On paper, Williams should win. He is younger, faster, more athletic and seems to have the edge in the power department. However, fights are not fought on paper. Another thing that may be in the favor of Williams is the fact the fight is an eight-rounder. Douglin is accustomed to fighting in ten or twelve round bouts. It will be key for Douglin to start off fast with not much ground to make up in a condensed match. Williams must win this fight in an impressive manner considering the big plans they have for him down the line.

Tune in to DAZN to see this fight go down. It takes place on the Juan Francisco Estrada v Roman Gonzalez WBA and WBC Super Flyweight unification rematch undercard on March 13.
