Williams Is Not Ready For Lara, Adames Or Alimkhanuly
Middleweight contender Austin “Ammo” Williams (18-1, 12KO) can’t beat any of the champions in, Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly, Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara or Carlos Adames.
Ammo had a disappointing 2024, with a career-first defeat by stoppage against Hamzah Sheeraz. In a competitive back-and-forth battle against Patrice Volny, Williams took heavy shots en route to a unanimous decision victory with one shady scorecard of 118-110 on March 15, 2025.
He called for a fight against the divisional champions during the in-ring post-fight interview.
“I’m ready to risk it, I’m ready to challenge … Let’s go get these world championships.”
They may want to pump the brakes, Williams is far from ready for a title fight. After seeing his performance against Volny, this author doesn’t believe he can beat any of the divisional champions.
WBA champion The American Dream (33-3-3, 19KO) still fights at a high level. In addition, his ring IQ alone is too much for the Texas resident.
WBC champion Adames (24-1-1, 18KO) would be a good fight, but he is too much of a dog. Plus, he gets stronger in the second half of a fight.
Unified champion Qazaq Style (16-0, 11KO) would mop the floor with Williams. Moreover, he would probably stop Ammo in the later rounds.
They should continue the rebuilding process by fighting another lower-tier contender.
