Jalolov Should To Focus On Being A Professional Boxer

There is a point in a fighter’s career when they reach a crossroads. That time is now for unbeaten heavyweight Bakhodir “The Big Uzbek” Jalolov (15-0, 14 KOs). He needs to leave the amateur ranks and fight as a professional full-time.

Jalolov scored an easy unanimous decision (100-89-, 97-92, 97-93) victory over outmatched Ihor Shevadzutskyi. After he scored a knockdown with a picture-perfect straight left hand with a minute to go in the third, the action became quite tedious to watch.

The crowd was not happy with what they witnessed, as there was loud and audible booing at the final bell.

A LOT LEFT TO BE DESIRED

A two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, “The Big Uzbek has been untested and continues to feast on substandard competition. In addition, his insistence on fighting in amateur tournaments has stunted his growth as a professional.

The crowd expected more from Jalolov, and so did the boxing community. This dance he’s doing between the paid and unpaid ranks must end and he needs step up the level of competition if he wants to have a real future.

During the pre-fight interview, Jalolov claimed to be ready for the elite fighters in the division. Based on this recent performance, he is far from ready. It’s now time for him to step up the level of competition and put his best foot forward. It’s time to be about it, not merely talk about it.
