Nick Ball Will Need to Dig to Overcome Brandon Figueroa

WBA featherweight champion Nick “The Wrecking” Ball should be full of confidence going into battle against “The Heartbreaker” Brandon Figueroa. However, he must remain focused and ready for a war in order to retain the title on February 7.

Ball will be defending the title for the fourth time since scoring a shocking upset victory over former champion Raymond Ford in 2024. With each win, his confidence is reaching new heights. But against The Heartbreaker, he will need to raise his game to another level.

HE MUST BE READY TO WIN A WAR

Figueroa will be fighting outside of the United States for the first time in his career against the physically strong WBA champion. The former 122-pound champion loves to throw punches in bunches and prides himself of being able to outwork his opponents. However, he didn’t look that good against Stephen Fulton in their rematch in 2025. It was hard to dismiss that as a one-off when he underperformed against Joet Gonzalez in the following bout in July 2025.

Ball has looked unstoppable and could be seen as the favorite going into the contest. Especially considering he will have homefield advantage. With the fight in his home country, fans can expect the fighter from Liverpool to be even more aggressive. He will need to attack the body, and punch in-between Figueroa’s combinations. In addition, he needs to keep Figueroa up against the ropes and continuously apply ruthless pressure. If this fights turns into a war of attrition, Ball must be ready to leave it all in the ring.
