Ivan Baranchyk makes his return against Gabriel Bracero!
Former IBF junior welterweight champion and WBSS participant Ivan Baranchyk (19-1, 12KO) will look to recoup from his loss to Josh Taylor October 5 when he meets welterwieght Gabriel Bracero (25-3, 6KO) on the under-card of Gennady Golovkin vs Sergei Derevyanchenko!
Ivan Baranchyk
Baranchyk was the #4 seed in the World Boxing Super Series that made it to the semi-final. Along the way, he was able to pick up the vacant IBF title when he defeated the Swede Anthony Yigit.
However, he was bounced out of the tournament by the #2 seed Taylor by way of unanimous decision in May.
He is a tough fighter who applies relentless pressure. Although he was dropped twice against Taylor, he still did a good job of keeping his opponent on his back-foot which allowed the judges to give him some rounds.
Gabriel Bracero
Bracero hasn’t been seen since his surprise upset victory over Artemio Reyes in July 2018. The Puerto Rican welterweight was actually a last minute replacement.
He proved to be the wrong choice as he completely overwhelmed Reyes in route to a fifth round knockout. The fact that Bracero completely dominated when he was expected to get “steamrolled” had many interested in what would be next for him.
Unfortunately, a long layoff was the reality.
This is a good match-up considering what Bracero did in his last fight but combine the layoff with the prestige of Baranchyk and you may end up with a stoppage for the former champion!
