Alycia Baumgardner Intends to Thoroughly Dominate Mikaela Mayer!
Winning titles and unification bouts in boxing is always a great experience and accomplishment for fighters. Yet, it’s an even sweeter win when the two adversaries are legitimate enemies. Such will be the case when unified super featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer (17-0, 5 KO’s) and WBC 140-pound champ Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner (12-1, 7 KO’s) clash in their next prizefight. Unfortunately, due to the passing of the queen of England, their match scheduled for September 9 has been indefinitely postponed.
During the build-up for the impending duel, each have loudly vocalized their dislike of the other. Yet, it’s been Baumgardner who has more forcefully declared that she intends on dominating and stopping Mayer when they meet. In a recent one-on-one with IFL TV, The Bomb continued to further her talking points.
“When I say I am a dog, I am a dog; I am a pit-bull. I’m about eat your ass, and when I say I am going to dog walk her, that’s what I am going to do. She’s the poodle […] She’s not of the culture, so she don’t know. When I say I am a dog, I’m a dog and when I say I am going to dog walk you, you’re a poodle and I am pit-bull. So bitch I am going to move you how I want to move you!”
PUT OR SHUT TIME!
It’s rather unsurprising that the heavy-handed Baumgardner is brimming with such confidence. Not only has she been craving this particular prizefight for some length of time, she is also two bouts removed from her biggest professional victory. In that match, versus Terri Harper, not only did she pick up a fantastic knockout win, she usurped Harper’s WBC and IBO titles.
Provided The Bomb topples Mayer, she will only need to collect the WBA title from Hyun Mi Choi to become undisputed. Clearly, Baumgardner will put her best efforts into knocking Mayer off of her current perch. Before she has the opportunity to face Mayer though, first the match must be rescheduled. So once that’s done, it will be interesting to see how this thrilling rivalry will conclude in the ring.
