Joey Spencer makes quick work of Isaiah Seldon!

Rising junior middleweight prospect Joey “Small Town Solider” Spencer (12-0, 9KOs) made quick work of Isaiah “Zoo” Seldon (14-4, 3KOs) with a first round knockout victory! Isaiah, the son of former WBA heavyweight champ Bruce Seldon, stood no chance.

As the fight began, Spencer would come out pumping the jab to the head and the body. He was clearly looking to set up a big right hand. With about half a minute to go in the opening round, Spencer threw a jab that would be followed by a beautiful straight right hand that immediately floored the outmatched Seldon. In a veteran move, Seldon would allow the count to reach eight before getting back to his feet.

Clearly frustrated by the knockdown, Seldon retaliated with two illegal right hands to the back of the head of Spencer. The foul resulted in two points being deducted from Seldon. Interestingly enough, the referee warned both fighters of what to expect if the fight got dirty.

ALL SHE WROTE!

With about 48 seconds left, another right-hand by Spencer would floor Seldon, who was clearly hurt. The fight was immediately stopped. A highly upset Seldon had to be calmed down by his trainer after repeatedly yelling “I’m up man, I’m up”. For Spencer, this win comes as no surprise. The twenty-year-old clearly has the necessary power to keep his opponents honest and mindful. Now with him using his jab more, he is starting to become more well-rounded.

It will be interesting to see who takes on next. Hopefully it is a solid step up in competition.
