Conor Benn Calls for Rematches with Chris van Heerden and Chris Algieri

Welterweight Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (21-0, 14KO) feels vindicated following the WBC’s ruling that eggs were the cause of a failed drug test. Now, The Destroyer is taking aim at former opponents Chris “The Heat” Van Heerden and Chris Algieri for hinting he could have been using in their fights.

Benn has finally gotten some closure for a positive test of a banned substance called Clomiphene, which resulted in the high-profile fight with Chris Eubank Jr getting scrapped in 2022. During the investigation, two former opponents came forward with statements that raised the eyebrows of fans in the boxing community.

The Heat (28-3-1, 12KO) took to social media, wanting to know if perhaps Benn was indeed using in their April 2022 showdown. Algieri (25-4, 9KO) claimed there were rumors of Benn not being a clean fighter prior to their fight in 2021.

Several fans found these claims very interesting as van Heerden and Algieri went more rounds with unified champion Errol Spence Jr before being stopped. Benn, not known as much of a power puncher, ran over both veterans rather quickly.

Benn, remembering these statements, is willing to prove those impressive wins were not from using any illegal substance by offering to rematch both former foes. He even suggested a fight with them both on the same day.

Benn is not entirely out of troubled waters. The BBBofC (British Boxing Board of Control) still has to weigh in on his fate of whether to allow him to fight in the country. Nonetheless, the British Fighter is positive a return to the ring is imminent, and he will be looking for vengeance.
