Berchelt vs. Vargas II and Navarette vs. Dogboe II Set for May 11.

May 11th at the Tucson Arena in Arizona will be a night of rematches. WBC Super Featherweight Miguel Berchelt (35-1, 31 KOs) will rematch against Francisco Vargas (25-1-2, 18 KOs) while WBO Super Bantamweight champion Emanuel Navarette (26-1, 22 KOs) fights a rematch against Isaac Dogboe (20-1, 14 KOs). Both Berchelt – Vargas II and Navarette – Dogboe II will be televised by ESPN.

For both Francisco Vargas and Isaac Dogboe , they are seeking revenge. Vargas was defeated by Berchelt via 11th round stoppage on January 28, 2017 at Fantasy Springs in Indio, CA; losing the WBC Super Featherweight title. Berchelt has since made four defenses of the WBC title. Further, to many, he has gained the mantle of the best Super Featherweight in the world.

>For much of 2018 Isaac Dogboe became a bit of a darling in the sport. The Ghanaian fighter ventured to the United States, stopping Jesse Magdaleno to win the WBO Super Bantamweight belt in April of 2018. He then made a successful first defense of the title, crushing Hidenori Otake in one round in Glendale, AZ.

Attempting to make a second defense of the title in December 2018, he ran into a buzz saw in the form of Emanuel Navarrete. Unknown to many before his win, Navarette savagely beat up Dogboe en route to a unanimous decision upset win to capture the title.

Vargas has had his fair share of tough fights. Does he have enough in the tank to regain the title against a Berchelt who looks to be in his prime? Was Dogboe’s loss to Navarette a fluke due to what he claims was a lack of preparation, or is Navarette just too big, strong, and powerful for the fighter known as the “Royal Storm”?

Stay tuned to 3KingsBoxing for previews of both fights on what looks to be a fantastic card. The styles in these match-ups virtually guarantee fights that will not lack in action.
