David Lemieux hospitalized due to dehydration; fight with Tureano Johnson off!

In an unfortunate turn of events, former middleweight titlist David Lemieux is out of his fight with Tureano Johnson. This bout had been set to be the co-main event for the Canelo Alvarez vs Rocky Fielding headliner December 15.

According to Chris Mannix from Sports Illustrated, Lemieux has been hospitalized due to weight related dehydration. While this is very unfortunate news, it shouldn’t come as a surprise as he’s had weight related issues prior.

In May he missed weight for his fight with Karim Achour. As a result, a catch-weight had been determined to keep the fight on.

Consequently, this may damage promotion for a possible Canelo vs Lemieux fight many fans feel will be next.

IBF junior lightweight champion Tevin Farmer’s title defense against Francesco Fonsesca will now serve as the co-main event!
