Canelo v Golovkin 3 Deal is Irrelevant to Dmitry Bivol
When undisputed 168-pound champion Canelo Alvarez (57-1-2, 39KOs) made his decision to return to DAZN on a two-fight deal, it was no secret that a third fight with Gennady Golovkin (41-1-1, 36KOs) was a part of the deal. However, we also knew that in order for him to proceed with that fight, he would have to get past the talented and unbeaten WBA Super 175-pound champion, Dmitry Bivol (19-0, 11KOs).
Most fighters in Bivol’s current situation would be feeling something, whether that emotion is anger, disrespect, or motivation, But when it comes to Bivol, he feels absolutely no way about the fact that Canelo already has his next fight signed.
He had this to say about Canelo v Golovkin 3 to Fight Hype:
“For me, it doesn’t matter, you know. He could have a deal with a lot of boxers after me, but it doesn’t bother me, because I have a chance. I have a chance, I have an opponent. He’s going to fight me. This is the main thing what I have to think about.”
Bivol’s mindset is in the right place. Oftentimes, fighters get caught up in what’s being said instead of concentrating on the task at hand. For Bivol, he knows this is an opportunity of a lifetime. A win over Alvarez would take his career to new heights, and in the process crush Alvarez’s plans to take on Golovkin for a third time.
