Hearn still building American stable
Eddie Hearn made a big splash when he announced his deal with the streaming service DAZN. He signed an eight-year billion dollar deal for DAZN to have the tv rights for Matchroom Boxing USA.
Since the signing Hearn has been looking to acquire top talent. He has courted the likes of Mikey Garcia, has shown interest in the Charlo Brothers and even publicly made Adrien Broner an offer. Trying to ultimately get the talent to sign with him has been quite a task.
Today however according to Hearn, he has added a name a young champion with a lot of potential. WBA light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol will be signing on to fight on DAZN. Bivol is a fighter that gets better and better each time he steps into the ring.
Bivol dismantled Sullivan Barrera, getting a twelfth round TKO back in March. The deal will go into affect after Bivol makes a voluntary defense of his title against Isaac Chilemba in August. It’s also an opportunity for Bivol to take his career to the next level, sort of speak it’s a win win for both sides.
DAZN is the largest streaming service in the world but are relatively unknown in America. A streaming company with big pockets that’s willing to spend. They’re aiming to become the Netflix of sports in America. It’s coming to America and plans to arrive in the summer. With rumors that it will have at least 50 dates for boxing alone.
Hearn’s first event is planned to take place in September, who will be on it? We have yet to know. An announcement should be coming in the near future announcing what fighters have signed to fight on the new platform. Hearn already has Daniel Jacobs and he will be moving over to DAZN as soon as his 3 fight deal with HBO comes to an end.
Hearn is looking to be a major player in the U.S market, hoping to strike the same success he has enjoyed in the United Kingdom. 3KingsBoxing.com will bring you more information as it becomes available.
