Jaron Ennis Must Look Impressive Against Karen Chukhadzhian
IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis (32-0, 29KO) has destruction in mind for mandatory challenger Karen Chukhadzhian (24-2, 13KO). Boots wants to erase the poor performance from their first fight in the upcoming rematch.
Despite pitching a shutout when they first met in January 2023, Ennis received criticism for not scoring a statement-making knockout. On November 5, he will have a chance to erase their first encounter from fans’ memory by stopping the two-time title challenger.
KNOCKOUT OR BUST
While speaking with YSM Sports Media, the Philadelphian wasted no time calling for the knockout.
“We got to do what we got to do. We are going to get him out of the way handle business. You know, put on a show and get him out of there. Make another statement, and then it’s on to the next.”
“I’m not looking past him at all. I’m locked in on Karen Chukhadzhian, and this time, I’m stepping on him. I’m going to have my fun, step on him, and put on a beautiful show. Another knockout coming.”
Ennis shocked the boxing community by signing with Matchroom Boxing back in April. Yet, he has failed to recapture that much-needed moment to get the buzz on his name again. In addition, the entire welterweight division has lost a lot of luster following the departure of Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr.
Many pundits believe by linking with Matchroom may hurt Ennis from becoming undisputed kingpin of the division. However, he could put heavy pressure on the other champions to fight by scoring an impressive knockout.
Going into the rematch, Boots is correct in looking to put on a show. If he wants to be the next big star of the division, then it’s now or never.
