Chris Bourke keeps flawless record intact

Following his latest performance, super bantamweight fighter Chris Bourke (10-0, 6 KO’s) was able to maintain his perfect professional record. Bourke accomplished this by outpointing James Beech Jr to receive a unanimous decision win. While Beech put up a great effort, he simply couldn’t deal with the southpaw’s accuracy and counterpunching ability. The bout stood as Bourke’s first defense of his WBC International super bantamweight title. He originally won the vacant strap over Michael Ramabeletsa on December 5, 2020.

It’s uncertain what the UK fighter will decide to do next. While he holds the secondary WBC title, he is not ranked in the top ten or fifteen of any of the other sanctioning bodies. Bearing this in mind, it would seem logical that he takes aim at an opponent within the top ten. If given his choice though, Bourke has been very vocal about taking on BBB of C super bantamweight champion Brad “The Blade” Foster (14-0-2, 5 KO’s). In his immediate post-fight interview, Foster, who is ranked #11 (IBF), was the first name out of his mouth.

If Bourke is to get his hands on Foster, he will have to wait to do so. The Blade was already scheduled to face Jason Cunningham but then suffered an injury, resulting in the fight’s postponement. At the current moment, it’s unknown when the bout will be rescheduled. So, until then, we’ll just have to wait to see what’s next for Chris Bourke and Brad Foster.
