A fighter should not be made to face someone suspected of cheating
There’s a serious chance that the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin rematch could be cancelled, due to the two failed drug tests by Alvarez.
We all know the parties involved do not want this fight canceled, for one obvious reason MONEY! Yep that’s right Money. Golden Boy Promotions, Tom Loeffler, HBO and both fighters stand to lose tons of money.
I don’t know the particulars of how much money everyone involved stands to lose and honestly don’t care.
The NSAC should do the right thing and cancel this fight, I know it would be unfortunate for Gennady Golovkin, who has passed all of his drug tests, and the fans of these two fighters who want a clear decisive winner.
But boxing has a chance to get this one right, no matter how bad it will sting. Send a message to Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya that you can’t and won’t be allowed to cheat and still be rewarded the opportunity to make millions of dollars being dirty and not upholding the integrity of the sport.
At the end of the day there’s no none else to blame but Canelo Alvarez, who put this fight and his credibility in jeopardy by ingesting what he had to know was a banned substance.
He took a gamble with not only this fight but his career, and has to be held accountable. So let’s hope boxing does what’s right and cancels this fight.
