Jermall Charlo Tells How Jermell vs Canelo Happened!

Undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (59-2-2, 39KO) surprised boxing fans with his announcement of a fight against undisputed junior middleweight Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-1-1, 19KO). The WBC middleweight champion Jermall “Hitman” Charlo took to social media to explain how his brother ended up securing the fight.

Initially, Hitman (32-0, 22KO) was penciled in as the next possible opponent for the undisputed Mexican champion. Furthermore, he was considered the logical choice especially following Canelo’s announcement of a September return fight under the Premier Boxing Champions banner.

JERMALL SPEAKS OUT

This unexpected turn of events led fans to wonder how Iron Man walked away with the fight over his twin brother, considering he wasn’t even mentioned as a potential candidate. Fans were later informed about how it all unfolded when the WBC champion took to social media and proclaimed that he gifted the fight to his brother.

“I gave the fight to my fucking brother, okay! Y’all are mad at me because I gave the fight to my brother. Let my brother fight. He has to go up two weight classes. I want to fight the motherfucker, but it is what it is.”

With the Canelo fight off the table, the question arises: What’s next for Charlo? One possibility is a long-awaited bout against two-division champion and rival Demetrius Andrade. These two surprised the boxing world when they appeared together on a live feed, agreeing to fight in September.

In light of passing up a significant opportunity, the WBC champion needs to make a big announcement soon.
