Bozy Ennis Wants Team Norman to Fight Or Move On
Obviously patience is running thin between the respective teams of welterweight champions Brian “The Assassin II” Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KO’s) (WBO) and Jaron “Boots” Ennis (32-0, 29 KO’s) (IBF). Norman Jr’s father, Brian Norman Sr., has gone well out of his way to keep everything happening with the on-going negotiations a public matter. Yet, this tactic that was once seemingly helpful now appears to be backfiring on him. As evidence, Derrick “Bozy” Ennis, father and chief second to Boots, has hit his limit.
In a recent interview with YSM Sports Media, Bozy held nothing back when saying he is tired of the shenanigans and wants either a signed contract or complete silence.
“I’m trying to be respectful because he’s disrespected now. He knows what Boots done to his son in here and I just don’t want to be like him but I had to tell the truth. Boots hit him with a body shot and dropped him in here! . . . Boots broke him down after three rounds and I made Boots fight inside with him – his own game – and backed him up.
Since his father is running his mouth, I am trying to be respectful but I am tired of him running his mouth. And he told me he wants to make the fight, [then] make the fight and stop running your mouth, man! Ain’t nobody ducking. They offered you more money than you ever want to see!”
MAJOR LEAGUE OR MAJOR FRONTING?
With the amount of media that Brian Norman Sr. has been doing, there is little to no doubt that he will quickly respond to these charged words by Bozy Ennis. The real question remains though: Will Team Norman accept their biggest payday to date to fight in a major unification match? If Norman Jr. does choose to pass on this deal, there is no doubt that he will then feel a significant backlash from a large segment of the boxing community.
Also, if not Boots now, the next million dollar question would then become: who else would The Assassin II fight? With the 147-pound landscape stacked the way it is, Boots is just about the biggest name and star in the division. Said to say, barring some real backroom wizardry, this fight right now is about as good as it’s going to get at the moment. So let’s see what Team Norman has up the sleeve next.
