Bozy Ennis Would Welcome the Chance to Train Errol Spence

One of boxing’s top trainers, Derek “Bozy” Ennis, doesn’t have a huge stable of fighters. However, he is open to adding one-time unified champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (28-1, 22KO) following speculation of a split with Derrick James.

The boxing community became suspicious that things were not well between Spence and James after The Truth posted a cryptic message.

Boxing’s gossip hotline went into overdrive after James admitted to not having spoken to Spence for almost a month on Cigar Talk. Although he never confirmed they’ve split, nor has there been an official statement. That hasn’t kept other trainers from expressing an interest in training Spence.

FROM WANTING TO FIGHT HIM TO BEING HIS TRAINER

Undoubtedly, several trainers will be looking to throw their names in that hat on training the Texan. While speaking with YSM Sports Media, Bozy was excited about the possibility of working with The Truth.

“I would love to train Errol Spence, you know what I mean. I already put the message out already. Spence, come see me, man. You know you my man. I got something for you. We get this shit right and get them titles back.”

Dereck “Bozy” Ennis

Bozy is the head trainer and father of IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis. Once upon a time, they were campaigning for a fight with Spence and unified champion Terence Crawford. While fans accused the two fighters of avoiding Boots, the elder Ennis never bought into that narrative.

In addition, Bozy trains 2020 Olympic Gold Medalist Andy Cruz, who is making some serious noise. His teachings have helped the Cuban lightweight’s transition from the amateurs to the professional ranks look easy.

With only three fights under their belt as a team, Cruz is already ranked #9 (WBC), #11 (WBA), and #15 (IBF, WBO). The elder Ennis isn’t a bad pick if Spence is indeed looking for a new home.
