Stephen Fulton vs Brandon Figueroa Halted By COVID-19
Boxing has taken yet another blow. The highly anticipated super bantamweight unification between WBO champion Stephen “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton (19-0, 8KOs) and WBC champion Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa (22-0-1, 17KOs) has been postponed. This comes after Figueroa tested positive for COVID-19.

This news is a punch to the gut that boxing didn’t need. In a year where big fights have fallen through due to injuries and postponements, it seems like the sport just can’t catch a break. Ironically enough, it was Fulton who tested positive for COVID-19 late last year resulting in his fight with former champion Angelo Leo being postponed until January. Now with Figueroa out, their September 18 bout will have to be rescheduled for another date.
As of this article, there is no word on when the fight will be back on schedule. Of course, 3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
