Ebanie Bridges dodges severe hand injury

In her last bout, bantamweight fighter Ebanie Bridges (7-1, 3 KO’s) picked up her latest win over Mailys Gangloff. Bridges would earn the hard fought and narrow win by way of unanimous decision. When the bout initially began though, it appeared as if the Australian might actually score her fourth professional knockout. This was due to the avalanche of hard right-hands that were raining down on the face of Gangloff. That was until roughly the third round when she abruptly ceased throwing the effective weapon like she had been. Then it became more apparent that something was wrong as Bridges repeatedly shook her hand.

In her post-fight interview, it was obvious to anyone with working eyes that her right paw was badly swollen. While conducting her Q&A, Bridges admitted that it was in great pain and she was just hopeful that it was not broken. Well, it appears that she got her wish as she has confirmed via her social media that it is in fact not broken. Instead the hand was just badly inflamed and merely needed resting.

FACE ME…AGAIN!

If given her choice, Bridges has made it no secret that she would love a second shot at WBA bantamweight champion Shannon “The Baby Face Assassin” Courtney (7-1, 3 KO’s). Earlier this year, April 10, Courtney handed Bridges her first professional loss by way of unanimous decision. It was a bad night in the office for the Australian, to say the least.

Over the course of the ten rounds, she was battered, out-boxed and had her eye swollen to Elephant Man proportions. Even worse, the bout held the then vacant WBA bantamweight title on the line. Naturally, Bridges wants the opportunity to even up the score. For the moment though, we will just have to wait and see what comes next. Yet, before the Australian can fight anyone, she must first get her hand back in working order!
