Kell Brook vs Jessie Vargas in the works for April 6
It appears that we could very well get an interesting welterweight match-up between two former champions.
According to Jessie Vargas he’s currently in negotiations with Kell Brook for a fight that could take place April 6 as part of a Matchroom USA/DAZN show.
This news comes on the heels of Amir Khan electing to face WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford instead of Brook, who’s been calling for a fight with Khan for years.
Vargas is coming off of back-to-back draws against Adrien Broner and Thomas Durlome.
This fight would be yet another high profile match-up for him while being in the midst of a crossroads in his career.
For Brook, this would be a chance for him to get a win over a credible opponent. As a result, he could position himself for a bigger fight later this year.
It’s also worth noting former WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn is also targeting Brook for a potential showdown in the UK. It has already been confirmed by his team an offer has been made.
Therefore, It appears the former IBF welterweight champion has some credible options to consider.
