Marcus Browne looking to stay a busy and add a popular name to his resume as a bout with Jean Pascal is in the works
Undefeated, top-rated light heavyweight Marcus Browne may possibly fight durable former champion Jean Pascal in a prelude to a title fight.
Browne (28), is coming off the best performance of his career against former WBA regular champion Badou Jack. This fight saw him capture both the WBA interim and WBC silver titles. That victory placed him in a very good position in two of the top governing bodies.
The slick southpaw fighter is the mandatory challenger for WBC champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk and #1 rated for WBA champion Dmitry Bivol. The boxing community would embrace a fight with either champion. Both fights are very possible considering the ground work that has been laid out prior.
One aspect is that WBC champion, Gvozdyk fights on ESPN. This shouldn’t be an issue given the fact that former champion Adonis Stevenson defended the title on the network. Also, Al Haymon has worked with Bob Arum before. Both, Felix Diaz and John Molina Jr fought WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford in the past.
Then there is Bivol, who recently signed with Matchroom. He will be debuting on DAZN March 9. Eddie Hearn has also had a good working relationship with Haymon; making fights with then-IBF champion Charles Martin, as well as Dominic Breazeale for Anthony Joshua.
The New York native possibly fighting Pascal is a decent stay busy fight to keep the momentum going. However following this, he needs to pursue challenging for the top spot in a talented division loaded with fan-friendly bouts.
There has yet to be an official announcement, however, 3kingsboxing will continue to monitor this story for future developments.
