Highly respected unbeaten prospect and former Olympian Filip Hrgovic inks co-promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing

Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Filip Hrgovic has signed a co-promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. While originally only promoted by Suaerland, this deal will see the 26 year-old featured on DAZN. This is a big deal for the Croatian who at 7-0 is on the fast track towards contender status!

Many of you may remember Hrgovic for winning a Bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics. He turned pro in September 2017 and has progressively stepped up his competition in each bout. His last two fights have been victories over solid American veterans Amir Mansour and Kevin Johnson.

He knocked out the normally durable Mansour in 3 rounds in September and followed with a clear decision victory over Johnson in December 2018. The later bout drew an ENORMOUS amount of television viewers in his native Croatia where he is quickly becoming a star.

The fighter they call “El Animal” is a massive 6’6″ and is trained by highly respected Cuban coach Pedro Diaz. In the bout with Mansour, he picked up the WBC’s international heavyweight title.

Furthermore, he holds top fifteen rankings within the WBA, WBO, and IBF sanctioning bodies. His team has spoken about how they view him as a potential title challenger sooner rather then later.

When speaking with industry sources in December, Hrgovic noted he would like to fight in April or May. It’s unclear at this time if this new deal changes those plans.

However, one thing is certain, this can only help build the name of the young heavyweight who intends to keep rolling after an impressive 2018. Stay tuned with 3kingsboxing.com as we bring you up to the minute news on the future of Filip Hrgovic!
