Callum Walsh Outclasses Fernando Vargas In Nip and Tuck Battle
In his latest tour of duty, super welterweight fighter “King” Callum Walsh (15-0, 11 KO’s) defeated Fernando Vargas (17-1, 15 KO’s) by way of unanimous decision. Despite the seeming dominance implicated by the scorecards, the overall contest was very evenly fought throughout.
Nevertheless, now that Walsh has collected Vargas’ scalp, his third of the year, its times for King and his team to look forward to the next challenge. With his present standings of #4 (IBF), #5 (WBC) and #14 (WBO), his options are rather plentiful. If following the IBF route, with the #1 and #2 spots being vacant, Walsh would be wise to press for a showdown with IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev.
If going the WBC route, King could make a fun fight with Jesus Ramos. Not only is this a competitive fight, Walsh can continue growing his brand with American audiences. This all would be dependent on Ramos overcoming the challenge of Shane Mosely Jr. whom he is slated to face on October 25. In any case, let’s see what Team Walsh can manufacture next.
