Chantelle Cameron Wants Katie Taylor To Put Her Belts On The Line Next!

In the first defense of her undisputed status, super lightweight champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (18-0, 8 KO’s) won in style! For the meaningful contest, Cameron slapped the first professional blemish on future Hall of Famer, and undisputed lightweight champion, Katie Taylor’s (22-1, 6 KO’s) sterling record. Over the course of the ten round affair, both women fought with scientific aggression to provide a fun memorable match. In the end though, Taylor dropped a majority decision loss to Il Capo.

Unsurprisingly, in true competitive knee-jerk reaction, during her post-fight interview Taylor called for a rematch. If she chooses to, Taylor could return to 135 and keep ruling the roost as the all-supreme champion. Obviously though, this would provide the internal peace that the Irish champion is looking for. Yet, while Cameron has no problem gloving up and going to war again, she may provide a new wrinkle when it comes to the weight class that is utilized.

YOUR TURN TO HOST!

“I’m kind of sick of putting my belts on the line, how about one of these put their belts on the line?! I will go down to 135 and take those belts off her hands. I don’t think I should keep defending my belts, I’ll take their belts now!”

Chantelle Cameron – Undisputed Super Lightweight Champion

It’s been four years since Il Capo fought as a lightweight, but clearly she does not have an issue with dropping back down. This situation closely mirrors the same dynamic going on with undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Super WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. After moving up to challenge Bivol, Canelo was handily defeated and immediately started talking about a rematch.

It will be interesting to see how Taylor responds to Cameron’s desire to usurp her coveted titles. Thankfully no matter what ends up happening, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
