Canelo vs Golovkin: A “Mexican Style” soap opera!

In a fight lead up that’s been full of controversy, we have yet another issue in the Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin rematch.

Team GGG has formally issued a rejection to the brand of gloves Canelo intends to use for their September 15 clash. The gloves in question “No boxing No life” are endorsed by Canelo and marketed by his trainer Eddy Reynoso.

The issue the champion’s trainer Abel Sanchez has with the gloves is they are made in Mexico and haven’t been used in America in a sanctioned bout of any kind.

The gloves have, however, been used in sanctioned bouts in Mexico. Sanchez stated:

“We did not feel that it was fair to use them because they have not been tested.. we do not know if they are going to break. Can you imagine if they break in the third round and Canelo gets the advantage to recover or take a break.“

Nevertheless, the gloves have been approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. However, it appears that the gloves have been rejected anyway.

3kingsboxing.com will stay on top of the Canelo/GGG story as more develops.
