Agyarko Likes The Idea Of Fighting Davis Next
Junior middleweight contender Caoimhin “Black Thunder” Agyarko (17-0, 7KO) likes the idea of fighting another low-tier opponent in Ishmael “The Black Panther” Davis (13-2, 6KO). In addition, his recent performance against Ryan “Ruthless” Kelly (19-6-1, 8KO) doesn’t justify being ranked #5 by the WBA.
After a superb first round, Ruthless beat Black Thunder to the body and head. His combination of punches and forward aggression was problematic for Agyarko in the early rounds. The Irishman came alive in the second half with a flurry of punches and quick combinations. Agyarko’s overall attack resulted in a majority decision victory, with the scorecards being 95-95, 97-94, and 96-94 in his favor. In fairness, Agyarko took the fight on one week’s notice, but he shouldn’t have struggled against a low-tier fight like Kelly.
During the post-fight interview, Agyarko showed interest in facing The Black Panther.
“Yeah, it definitely interest me … It’s been on the radar for a while.
In this author’s opinion, he has regressed since defeating Troy Williamson in 2023. When you are ranked that high by the boxing organization expectations are high. In addition, his last two opponents had a combined record of 7-15-5. Lastly, he shouldn’t be looking to face Davis but instead challenge someone within the top 10.
