Caroline Dubois Close To A Title Shot After Beating Maira Moneo

Lightweight contender “Sweet Caroline” Caroline Dubois (10-0, 5KO) easily dominated WBC interim titlist Maira Moneo (14-2, 3KO) by a unanimous decision.

Sweet Caroline worked off the jab with extreme effectiveness. She has been in the gym, transforming herself into a well-rounded boxer. With every landed hard punch, the crowd would stand in anticipation that a knockout or knockdown was coming.

As the fight continued, Dubois kept pumping the jab before landing hard shots to the body. Her defense, hand speed, combination punches, and footwork were on point.

In round six, She landed a perfect pull-counter left hand that put the WBC interim titlist on the canvas. Realizing her opponent wasn’t ready to go, Caroline continued to box superbly behind the jab and solid combination punches.

Fighting strong until the final bell, Dubois was awarded the victory with scorecards reading 100-90 twice, and 99-90. This win puts her in prime position for a world title shot. They must wait to see what undisputed champion Katie Taylor will do after the upcoming rematch with Amanda Serrano on November 11.
