Bruce Carrington Wants To Fight Nick Ball & Stephen Fulton
In his first bout of the year, top featherweight contender Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington (15-0, 9 KOs) won impressively. He specifically called out WBC champion Stephen “CoolBoy” Fulton (23-1, 8KO) and WBA champion Nick “The Wrecking” Ball (22-0-1, 13KO)
Carrington stopped Enrique “El Ejecutor” Vivas (23-4, 12 KO’s) by third-round TKO. After a quick acclimating first round, Shu Shu dropped and badly hurt Vivas in the second, which should have ended the bout.
As the fight continued, Shu Shu relentlessly slathered Vivas’s jaw with hammering hooks and uppercuts. A battered and jelly-kneed El Elecutor limped into the third round, where the match was quickly waived off by referee Raul Caiz Jr.
In the post-fight interview, Carrington placed all the champions on notice, especially Fulton and Ball.
“I really want to be specific when I call these people out. Nick Ball, yeah I want that one. WBC, Stephen Fulton, yeah, I want that, let’s get this work in, bro.”
Fulton has the more accomplished resume with fights against undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue, and Brandon Figueroa. Ball has proven to be tough, gritty and can pack a wallop. So, in either case Carrington would seemingly have a tough night in the office versus either fighter.
It will be interesting to see how either of the two responds to the call to action.
