Starling Castillo Gets Split Decision Over Jesus Saracho

In a welterweight showdown, Starling “El Poli” Castillo (19-1-1, 13KO) got a questionable split decision victory over Jesus “Junior” Saracho (13-2-1, 11KO).

This fight started with both men looking to work on the inside. Despite being the taller man with the longer reach, Castillo was comfortable throwing hooks and uppercuts on the inside. However, his refusal to use the jab was mind-blowing and made the fight harder than it should have been.

Saracho adjusted by using the angles and landed hard body shots. The Mexican was able to back up El Poli and found a home for the uppercuts. Yet, his body attack started slowing down the Dominican.

In the middle rounds, the Mexican took control of the fight as Castillo was trying to box at mid-range. He did a good job changing levels to get inside and kept putting together a solid attack.

Castillo picked up the pace by throwing more combinations and landed some solid hooks upstairs. Yet, Junior quickly bounced back by cutting off the ring and continued to focus on the body. He managed to close the fight strong, landing the more eye-catching shots.

When the scorecards were tallied, one judge scored it 96-94 Saracho, and two had it 98-92, 99-91 in favor of Castillo.

This is getting ridiculous. There is no way Castillo should have gotten scorecards that wide. 3kings Boxing agreed with the judge that had it for Saracho.
