Jermall Charlo reveals he suffered a broken right hand against Juan Macias Montiel

In his last bout, WBC middleweight champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22KOs) waged battle against the previously unknown Mexican middleweight fighter Juan Macias Montiel over the course of twelve rounds. While clearly winning the bout and defending his title for the fourth time, he didn’t do so without adversity. Montiel proved to be way more challenging and durable than most initially thought. While clearly losing, he provided fans with two-way action and even managed to hurt Charlo.

THE ADVERSITY WE DIDN’T SEE!

While he had to dig deeper than he and many people watching the fight thought he would, it wasn’t solely based off of his opponent Montiel. In a recent social media live video, the elder Charlo brother revealed that he suffered a broken right hand in the third round of that bout.

He said the following regarding the injury:

“I really wanna know how many people realize I broke my right hand. I got this shit (cast) off now. Look, I broke my hand in the fucking third round.”

From the looks of the hand of Charlo from the video, it appears everything is healing according to plan and it’s not expected to keep him out of action for a lengthy period of time. It must be noted that this is the second time the middleweight champion has injured his hand. He injured his left hand in his first title defense against Brandon Adams back in June of 2019. Some may begin to worry whether the hard-hitting champion has brittle hands. Hopefully, that’s not the case.
