Ted Cheeseman vs Scott Fitzgerald
In another exciting domestic level fight Ted “The Big Cheese” Cheeseman will be facing undefeated Scott “Fitzy” Fitzgerald for the BBBofC British Super Welterweight title. This is going to be a must-see fight, as both men display that “never-say-never” attitude.
Cheesema (24), is the more popular fighter with the better resume. Defeating quality fighters like Paul Upton and Asinia Byfields placed his career on the fast track.
However, as fortune would have it, his last two fights didn’t go according to plan. He suffered his first career loss in a spirited performance against Sergio Garcia. The following fight, a draw to Kieron Conway would create another setback.
Fitzgerald, on the other hand, is coming off his biggest career victory in defeating amateur foe Anthony Fowler in true grit fashion in July. This victory saw the 27-year old capture the WBA International title, a #14 rating by the organization and redemption from his loss to Fowler int he amateurs.
INTERESTING FACTS
Cheeseman is also a former WBA International champion and will be fighting in Newcastle for the first time.
Fitzgerald will be making two career firsts: fighting for a domestic level British title and performing in Newcastle.
A victory will see both men move on into the next phase of the British circuit along with a huge boost in their careers.
Cheeseman is the more experience fighter and a decent body puncher in dire need to get one into the “win” column. Fitzgerald is the harder puncher with good boxing skills.
This fight is on schedule to take place at the Newcastle Arena November 19 on the under-card of Lewis Ritson vs Robbie Davies Jr.
