Chris Eubank Should Retire & Skip Conor Benn Sequel
After defeating archrival Conor “The Destroyer” Benn, middleweight contender “Next Gen” Chris Eubank Jr. should consider retiring. Boxing fans call Eubank vs. Benn an instant classic, as both fighters went to war. Eubank came out of the fight with a unanimous decision victory, maintaining the family’s supremacy over the Benn family.
There are talks of a rematch, but when looking at things closely, Eubank should take this moment to walk away on top. Beating Benn has to be seen as the biggest win of his career, and the fight was a financial success.
Eubank could take the rematch, but given how he struggled to make weight it’s likely he will want the fight at a higher weight. It’s highly unlikely Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, would allow that to happen.
In addition, Next Gen doesn’t seem too eager to challenge for a world championship. Most fighters make the mistake of staying in the sport too long only to have the sport retire them. Yet, Eubank could be lured into a rematch depending on the number of dollar signs thrown in his direction.
