Christian Mbilli Beats Sergiy Derevyanchenko By UD
In a big super middleweight showdown, top contender Christian “Solide” Mbilli (28-0, 23KO) earned the victory over Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko (15-6, 10KO).
Things started fast for Solide, who surprisingly did a good job boxing off the front foot. He landed repeated hard shots to the body before wobbling the Ukrainian with an overhand right on the top of the head.
Yet, The Technician used that vast experience to come charging back with body shots and uppercuts. In addition, he did a good job finding ways to land the right hand down the middle.
As the fight continued into the second half, Derevyanchenko did some of his best work with one hand while fighting with a torn left bicep. In an amazing show of heart, he continued to throw the right-hand, momentarily stunning Mbilli.
Realizing the older veteran was severely hurt, Mbilli poured on the offense by landing hard unanswered shots. Those left and right counters, hooks, and body shots had the crowd cheering.
The judges scorecards were 100-90, 99-91, and 98-92 in favor of Mbilli. 3kingsboxing scored it 97-93 for Mbilli.
