Kim Clavel and Jessica Nery Plata to Unify at 108 on December 1!

Following Kim Clavel’s win over Yesenia Gomez to capture the WBC junior flyweight title in July 2022, 3Kings Boxing strongly suggested that a unification bout could be next in line. As it turns out, that will indeed be the case. According to ESPN, Clavel will face WBA champ Jessica Nery Plata on December 1 in Laval, Quebec, Canada. Plata is coming off a victory over two-division champion Yessica Bopp to win the WBA title in March 2022.

Clavel v Plata is a bout featuring ladies who can box and adapt in the ring. In her title win over Gomez, the WBC champ was aggressive early. But over time, she settled down. Switching up her strategy, she decided to outbox her adversary over the second half of the contest and cruised to victory.

HOW IT SHAPES UP

One of Plata’s best punches in her arsenal is the left jab. The 28-year-old used that punch to gain an early lead in her victory over Bopp. Facing a shorter but more experienced foe, Plata did an excellent job of applying smart pressure. Her combination punches were impressive all night long, as well as her composure.

The WBA champ is from Montreal, Quebec, so she will have the crowd on her side. Plata has experience fighting on the road given that her fight against Bopp was on neutral territory in Panama. On paper, this shapes to be an excellent battle of skilled warriors that could go either way.
