Blair Cobbs thinks Terence Crawford is overrated!

If there is one thing that rising welterweight prospect Blair “The Flair” Cobbs (14-0-1, 9 KO’s) is known for it is for making memorable moments.

Recently the outlandish pugilist has struck again! This time Cobbs took shots at one of boxing’s pound-for-pound kings and WBO welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (36-0, 27 KO’s).

While providing an interview to ThaBoxingVoice, Cobbs took the occasion to make a number of incendiary comments about Bud. During the Q&A he insisted that Crawford was not that well paid, wasn’t fighting anyone and that a great number of people could give Bud many problems in the ring.

However, by far the most controversial statement that he made was that the WBO champ was not a very talented boxer!

SPEAK YOUR MIND!

When reviewing many of today’s top fighters it’s very possible that Crawford is not everyone’s cup of tea. There are plenty of people who believe that unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (26-0, 21 KO’s) is the cream of the division crop.

However, to say that Crawford is not very talented is one hard pill to swallow, if not impossible!

To begin, Bud has held world titles at lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight. During his tenure at super lightweight, he achieved the notable distinction of becoming the undisputed champion following his 2017 win over Julius Indongo. At the time of this personal milestone Bud was the division’s first undisputed champion since 2001 when Kostya Tszyu defeated Zab Judah.

Not only is he one of the smoothest switch hitting boxers of the present day, he could be one of the best of all time. Even among his detractors Crawford’s skillset is heavily respected. Well that goes for those not named Blair Cobbs.

As evidence of his statements, Cobbs points back to difficulties that he believed Bud suffered during his amateur career.

“People that are incredibly fast with their feet can offset Terence, that’s just nature. Look Terence Crawford, he was not the elite unbelievably talented dude that like destroyed everybody in the amateurs.

“There have been times when he couldn’t even get passed guys. Why, because they were just that much more talented than him.

“Bud Crawford is not a talented fighter! Bud Crawford is an incredibly hard working fighter. He works so hard to master so many skills because he is not talented.

“He’s not incredibly talented.”

MIC DROPPED

Naturally The Flair will experience some blow-back from these statements. As a professional Cobbs has yet to fight a notable opponent, compete for a world title or headline a major event.

Going a step further he is not even rated in the top 15 of any of the major sanctioning bodies. In fact, although they are not widely recognized, even the IBO has Cobbs listed as their 89th ranked welterweight!

More than likely, however, Crawford himself will not respond to these high powered charges. Yet, now that he is on record saying these things there is little doubt that Cobbs will have these words thrown back in his face for the remainder of his career.

So from this point forward it will be interesting to see where his career goes and how much skill and talent Blair “The Flair” displays’ in the squared-circle.
