Chris Colbert To Face Hector Luis Garcia in WBA Title Eliminator

Unbeaten WBA junior lightweight Interim champion Chris “Primetime” Colbert (16-0, 6KOs) will head to the ring on February 26 to face an opponent not named WBA junior lightweight champion Roger “The Kid” Gutierrez (26-3-1, 20KOs). The champion was forced to withdraw due to testing positive for COVID-19. Now, Primetime will tangle with Hector Luis “El Droide” Garcia (14-0, 10KOs) in a WBA title eliminator.

Ever since becoming the WBA Interim champion, Colbert has made two consecutive title defenses. In his last fight, he defeated Tugstsogt Nyambayar via unanimous decision in July of 2021. With Gutierrez out, he will have to face one more opponent before he gets the chance to tussle for that WBA title.

As for Garcia, this will be his most significant fight in his young career. In his last bout, he defeated Isaac Avelar by a unanimous decision. A win here would place him in line to face Gutierrez for the Super WBA title at some point in 2022.

Needless to say, this Showtime main event has a lot on the line for both of these unbeaten fighters.
