Tank Defends Garcia and Calls For Eddie Hearn to Be Punished!
After staging one electric fight, the aftermath of the brawl between WBC junior welterweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney and “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KO’s) is proving to be just as intriguing. The latest development has Garcia allegedly popping dirty for the PED Ostarine. Among the dust being kicked up, WBA lightweight champion Abdul “Tank” Wahid (29-0, 27 KO’s), AKA Gervonta Davis, jumped in the mix advocating the forced ejection of Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.
WHY DO YOU SAY THAT?
While it’s clear that Tank is sympathetic with Garcia’s plight, why he feels this way or what Eddie Hearn has to do with it is somewhat a mystery. To begin, King Ry failed a drug test which has absolutely nothing to do with Team Haney or their promotional backers. Secondly, Garcia came in shamefully overweight and the only reason the fight proceeded at all is because Haney gave it the nod of approval.
This is said to say, King Ry came real close to taking the fight from himself and he accomplished this all on his own. In the case of Eddie Hearn, one once again has to wonder: what does Tank mean? Is he insinuating that Hearn had something contaminated so that a flagged result would be a nefariously engineered scheme? This in essence is what Deontay Wilder said after losing to Tyson Fury. Or, is Tank saying there is no such failed drug test and Hearn is simply using his pull to have this whole episode fabricated from thin air?
Who knows? In any case it doesn’t appear that the backbiting will take a seat any time soon. It will also be revealing to see whether Garcia can keep his win or be stripped of the accomplishment of his career? Will Haney rematch Garcia? There are certainly a lot of ways that this can go.
